Ford announces two engine options for the new Mustang

The new Ford Mustang is set to impress fans with two engine options available for its UK release in 2015.

The new Mustang will be available with a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine, which was designed specifically for the muscle car to meet the needs of drivers looking for outstanding performance and fuel efficiency.

The EcoBoost engine will offer an astounding 305bhp and 434Nm of torque. The V8 Mustang will be equipped with a muscular 5.0-litre engine and will generate an even more impressive 429bhp with 542Nm of torque.

Scott Makowski, EcoBoost powertrain engineering manager, said: "This EcoBoost engine delivers the healthy output Mustang drivers expect, regardless of the car's speed. It delivers where a Mustang driver expects it to with a broad, flat torque curve and great driveability under any conditions."

Both engine options will be available for customers in the UK when the Mustang arrives on UK shores next year. The Mustang will offer fully independent front and rear suspension, and an advanced lightweight body structure with extensive high-strength steel and aluminium components for excellent ride and handling.

Ford has also revealed brake and chassis performance packages will be standard for European customers.

Dave Pericak, Mustang chief engineer, said: "Mustang is all about performance and the performance packs give our customers what they are looking for straight from the factory."

Ford will announce final specification and details for the Ford Mustang fastback and convertible models for Europe at a later date.
