Ford B-Max offers best in class fuel economy

The Ford B-Max, which received its UK premiere earlier this week, will deliver best-in-class fuel economy in both diesel and petrol categories, the Blue Oval has claimed.

Using Ford's new 1.0-litre EcoBoost 120PS petrol engine, the B-Max will be 15 per cent more economical than key competitors, it added.

Barb Samardzich, vice-president of product development at Ford of Europe, commented: "Our goal with B-Max was to redefine the segment through technology and ingenuity – and that includes delivering the very best fuel economy."

According to the firm, the 1.6-litre TDCi 95PS diesel also beats rivals on fuel economy and CO2 emissions and help owners save almost £390 per year.

The firm's tests show that the new B-Max, when powered by a 1.6-litre TDCi engine, will deliver 104g/km CO2 emissions and offer drivers an impressive 70.6mpg.

By way of comparison, rival multi-activity vehicles on the market offer a CO2 emissions average of 119 g/km.
