Ford begins Fiesta production

Ford has started production of the latest version of its perennially popular Fiesta model.

It is expected that the upgraded vehicle, which features a dramatic new exterior, notable for its grilled front, will hit dealerships in the UK in January 2013.

Add to that an interior space that has been well-optimised ergonomically – making it one of the most comfortable driving experiences at the moment – and it is easy to see why this car will go down a storm.

"The new Fiesta has seven powertrain options – both diesel and petrol – that deliver fuel economy of less than 100 grams of CO2 per kilometre," added Roelant de Waard, vice president of marketing, sales and service at Ford of Europe.

One of the unique selling points of the new Fiesta will be Ford's innovative MyKey system, which helps parents to limit the speed of the car, as well as restrict audio volume.

The principle idea behind this novel technology is to encourage safer driving in teenagers, while also boosting the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.

The state-of-the-art technology doesn't end there though, as the new Fiesta also comes with Active City Stop, which reduces the likelihood of low speed collisions; and SYNC, a voice-activated in-car connectivity system.
