Ford C-MAX given Euro 5 rating

A pair of new Ford models have been awarded the maximum Euro 5 star safety rating by Euro NCAP.

According to the independent organisation, the Ford C-MAX and Ford Grand C-MAX include excellent safety features for both adults and children, as well as offering good whiplash protection.

Some 53 per cent of the bodyshell of a C-MAX model is made from high-strength steels, while the company's intelligent protection system adds further structural integrity.

The models are the first from Ford to undergo Euro NCAP's new crash test procedures, which were brought in last year.

Gunnar Herrmann, global medium car vehicle line director at Ford, commented: "Crash test ratings are an important factor when designing and engineering our vehicles and we're delighted that Euro NCAP has recognised that both models offer excellent protection in the event of a collision."

Mr Herrmann added that the five-star rating bodes well for the all-new Ford Focus, which will also be based on the C-car platform and is due to go on sale in 2011.

Ford recently introduced new standard infotainment features to its C-MAX range, including Bluetooth and DAB radio.ADNFCR-3205-ID-800256024-ADNFCR
