Ford Transit Custom released with new high-roof

Ford Transit, one of the most notable names in commercial road transportation, has released a brand new 'Custom' vehicle, set to provide 20 per cent more space than conventional models.

Furthermore, the new design will also allow for 370mm more load height than the low-roof version.

The new Transit can now be ordered by UK customers, with delivery expected for later on this year.

According to Ford, the new Transit design is unique in regards to an all-steel roof that provides more durability than composite roof construction, in addition to featuring roof rack compatibility. It can also carry a maximum of 100kg.

David Gregory, Transit Custom chief programme engineer for Ford of Europe, said: “This addition to the Transit Custom line-up brings all the style, economy and durability of the low-roof vehicle, and adds valuable extra cargo volume.

“We also made sure that the high-roof variant keeps all of those smart load space features that customers asked for when we designed the new model.”

The popular Ford Transit recently won International Van of the Year 2013, and this new model further proves why the brand is so dominant in the commercial vehicle sector.
