Hyundai lands manufacturer title
British drivers looking for new car deals could be tempted to visit their local Hyundai dealership after the South Korean firm picked up a coveted industry award.
The carmaker was recently crowned Best Car Manufacturer at the 2012 Car Dealer Power Awards at Portsmouth's Spinnaker Tower.
More than 1,000 dealers from across the UK were polled for the survey, which was organised by Car Dealer magazine to find out which brand has the best reputation.
Tony Whitehorn, president and chief executive officer at Hyundai UK, welcomed the award and acknowledged the hard work of his team.
"This is a hugely significant award for our business as it recognises the hard work and effort of our team here in the UK," he said.
"The UK business is growing daily driven by the fantastic new products that we are bringing to the market place but that growth would not be possible without a robust team and a strong dealer network."
James Baggott, editor of Car Dealer magazine, claimed that the award shows that Hyundai's reputation has helped the firm achieve steady growth in the UK over the past few years.
"Hyundai has obviously worked hard on forging an impressive partnership with its dealers as they've voted the manufacturer as the best to represent in the UK," he added.
"It's an impressive achievement and represents a jump from 12th place in last year's survey."
According to the firm's latest figures, its UK sales have increased by 11.38 per cent so far this year, with more than 35,000 British drivers opting to get behind the wheel of a new Hyundai.
News of the prize comes shortly after Hyundai revealed that UK motorists will soon be able to get their hands on the new Hyundai Santa Fe.
The new model will be available from October this year, with prices starting at £25,495.
