Jason Plato: Chevrolet Cruze is without a doubt the best Touring Car i've driven

"Gritty determination, hard driving and teamwork" are the things that have kept Jason Plato in the hunt for another British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) title this tear.

That is according to the British driver, who is aiming to retain his crown when racing his Chevrolet Cruze around the Silverstone track in this season's finale.

Plato is hoping that his chances will be enhanced next season by improvement to his car, which he already describes as "without a doubt the best Touring Car I've driven".

The race ace said this season has been one of the hardest of his career, but he now looking forward to giving it his all in the final meet of the year.

"On the one hand, we've won eight races, broken lap and race win records and the car has got better and better as the season has gone on," he said.

"On the other, we've had politics and some spectacular low points. The dramatic roll at Donington back in April was probably the biggest shunt ever in my entire career, we had a miserable weekend up at Knockhill and it’s impossible to overtake with a normally-aspirated car on some of the circuits."

Plato added that it will be an "astonishing" result if he can drive to victory ahead of Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden in the Honda Civic.
