Citroen Ds3 driver Sebastien Loeb got his 2012 World Rally Championship (WRC) season off to a flying start in Monte Carlo.

The eight-time world champion has always performed well at the track and this year was no exception as the Frenchman secured

With a total of 28 points from the win, Loeb is already in a commanding position and is looking forward to cementing his position at the top of the leaderboard as the season progresses.

"It's always a great moment to start the season like this especially in front of so many fans. Full points in the first race is incredible and for sure it's the perfect start to my title defence," he commented.

"But Monte Carlo is my rally and for the others we will have to see."

Elsewhere, MINI's Dani Sordo pipped Petter Solberg in the Ford Fiesta WRC to second place, while Loeb's New team-mate Mikko Hirvonen steered his Citroen Ds3 to fourth place in his first outing for the team.
