Nissan Qashqai set for an entirely different showroom

While the Nissan Qashqai has been taking pride of place in showrooms across the UK, the model is soon set to feature in an entirely different display.

The newly crowned What Car? Car of the Year 2014 will soon be the star attraction at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead.

It will be the centre of a brand new exhibition focused around Nissan technologies - known as the Nissan Innovation and Excitement Event.

Set to begin on January 18th, the contemporary demonstration of Nissan's art through design will feature rare concept images, a Qashqai showreel cinema and the new Qashqai itself.

It is part of the build up to an official ceremony set to be held at the Nissan plant in Sunderland on January 22nd that mark the launch of the vehicle.

Visitors to the Gateshead exhibition will be able to ask questions about the new Nissan and other facets of the manufacturer's offerings, while information can also be obtained about future opportunities at the local factory.

Kevin Fitzpatrick, Nissan's vice president for manufacturing in the UK, said: “Nissan has created the next generation Crossover by redesigning Qashqai from the ground-up. We think it’s fitting to celebrate that design in one of Europe’s leading modern art galleries."

“The event will showcase the role of our design and technical centres in developing this innovative new model, as we move into full production at our Sunderland plant."
