Renault Captur awarded 5-star safety rating from Euro NCAP

The Renault Captur has secured a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP after a range of passive tests were carried out.

It is the 15th Renault vehicle to receive a five-star passive safety rating and it did so with a global score of 80.5 per cent.

Based upon road accident research and the behaviour of motorists on roads, Renault developed safety systems to better protect occupants, while an electronic architecture ensures that protective systems are triggered rapidly.

Beyond protecting the driver and the passenger with high-efficiency airbags, load limiters and seat belts, the Captur does its best to protect pedestrians in the event they are hit by the car. The bumper features no salient edges and the lower part of the windscreen has been developed to reduce injury.

To ensure occupants use the Renault Captur safely, the vehicle features cruise control, a speed limiter, and audio and visual reminders that are activated if someone is not wearing their seatbelt.

The Captur is the second Renault vehicle to receive a five-star Euro NCAP rating this year, following the ZOE. The New Clio achieved the same credentials last year.
