Renault Twingo prototypes hit the red carpet at Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most famous events of its kind in the world, but partner company Renault will have a special place in this year’s lineup.

Having worked with the festival for more than 30 years, the French manufacturer has announced that a prototype of its New Twingo model will be on display in front of the iconic Palais du Festival.

Four New Twingo prototypes will take to the Croisette in total, while 15 Renault Twizys will even be available to the public to help them travel up and down between the different events going on around Cannes.

This year’s festival has seen Renault double the size of its fleet to 210. A total of 70 Latitudes and 140 Espaces will be responsible for escorting stars, organisers and other event partners such as Air France and L’Oral to the red carpet.

What’s more, Renault has been working with Orange to develop a new system it is trialling in these cars which enables passengers to make use of a Wi-Fi connection.

But for film-lovers, the highlight is set to be The Innovators, a short film developed by Renault alongside Dolores and Carmen Chaplin to celebrate the centenary of their grandfather, cinematic legend Charlie Chaplin.
