Sir Chris Hoy set to swap two wheels for four with Nissan racing

Olympic champion and national hero Sir Chris Hoy is ready to embark on a brand new career, after retiring from cycling in April 2013.

He has now swapped two wheels for four, as he is set to race as part of Nissan's racing team that will take part in the 2014 British GT Championship, where he will drive the GT-R Nismo GT3.

It is hoped that Sir Chris will make it back to his rightful spot on top of a podium and eventually be ready to compete for Nissan in the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours event.

Sir Chris noted Nissan's involvement in supporting both the Team GB and ParalympicsGB programmes and said it is "fantastic" for him to work with the racing team for the next stage of his sporting career.

"This won’t be easy - but I could not turn down the chance to give it a go. My ultimate ambition is to race at Le Mans. That is the dream, but I’m taking this one step at a time,” he said.

While racing for Nissan, Sir Chris will be able to continue his role as ambassador for athletes in the run-up to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
