The SKODA Yeti reaches the 500,000 mark
The 500,000th SKODA Yeti has rolled off the production line Kvasiny, Czech Republic, at the end of October.
Michael Oeljeklaus, SKODA board member for production and logistics, said: 'Achieving a production figure of half a million SKODA Yetis is yet another milestone for the Kvasiny plant. Since its introduction, the Yeti has delighted customers in Europe and on the international markets.
'We owe this success not least to the team in Kvasiny. It is with their technical skills, their expertise and the highest commitment that they essentially shape the excellent reputation of the plant. Over the next few years, Kvasiny's production volume will increase significantly. SUV production is going to play an important role in this.'
This milestone has been achieved in the sixth year of the Yeti's production life, having been launched in 2009. The Yeti's success is particularly impressive given that it represents SKODA's first foray into the compact SUV segment.
In 2013, the Yeti was overhauled, receiving a new nose, tail lights amongst other subtle styling tweaks. It also spawned the Outdoor trim, incorporating strengthened underbody protection and rugged, plastic wheel arches.
In addition to the production line in Kvasiny, the Yeti is produced in China and Russia. In China, it is made at the Shanghai Volkswagen plant for the Chinese market. In Russia, the Yeti is produced in conjunction with the Russian manufacturer GAZ Group at the Nizhniy Novgorod plant.
