Vauxhall has said it will launch its Astra Sports Tourer model by the end of 2010.

Vauxhall has revealed it will release a new version of its Astra before the year is out.

The Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer is a sleekly designed estate model boasting an extended range of engines fitted with start/stop technology to improve emissions and fuel consumption.

Making its debut at this year's Paris Motor Show in September, the vehicle is set to be available to order in the UK from October.

Compared with the current Astra estate, the Sports Tourer offers 50 per cent extra storage space in the cabin and an improved load length.

The model will come with a choice of six engines initially, while an ecoFLEX model will be available soon afterwards.

Features outlined for the vehicle include award-winning sports seats and Intelligent Adaptive Forward Lighting, which uses eight different bi-xenon settings to adapt to various weather conditions automatically.

Earlier this month, the firm also announced a raft of improvements to its Vauxhall Vivaro van range.
