Vauxhall trio shortlisted for green awards

A trio of new Vauxhall models have been named in the shortlist for the forthcoming Next Green Car Awards 2011.

The Corsa 1.3 CDTi EcoFlex, Meriva 1.3 CDTi EcoFlex and Ampera E-REV make up the manufacturer's representatives on the list, with overall winners due to be announced on August 1st.

Potential buyers will also be interested to hear that in addition to green credentials, the awards take into account drive experience, design, value and innovation levels.

The Corsa has been named as one of three vehicles in contention to pick up the Supermini prize, while the Meriva is in with a shout of picking up top prize in the MPV category and the Ampera is nominated in the Next Generation section.

Dr Ben Lane, managing editor of Next Green Car, said: "We have developed our Next Green Car Awards with the UK car buyer in mind. Our Green Car Rating and Approved lists, which highlight the best new green cars each month, have proved very popular with our website users.

"The annual Next Green Car Awards gives our visitors an additional independent view to help them select their next green car."
