Vauxhall welcomes eco-car incentive

Vauxhall has welcomed the government's decision to help consumers and businesses cover the costs of buying a low-carbon car.

The government this week confirmed that up to £5,000 would be offered to all buyers of ultra-low carbon cars as an incentive to boost sales of such units.

And now Vauxhall has come out in support of the new scheme. Duncan Aldred, managing director of Vauxhall Motors, said that the announcement was a positive one for the country as a whole.

"Stimulation of new low-carbon vehicle technology with incentives assures that the significant investment being made by both vehicle and infrastructure manufacturers will result in more buoyant sales," he said.

Mr Aldred added that the new units will also work to provide a "fast track" to the positive impact that low carbon vehicles can have on the environment.

The grant will reduce the initial costs of eligible vehicles by 25 per cent, up to a maximum of £5,000.ADNFCR-3205-ID-19913614-ADNFCR
