Australian F1 ace Mark Webber is aiming to improve next season and give teammate Sebastian Vettel a run for his money in the Renaultsport-powered Red Bull.

Webber beat Vettel to the chequered flag in Brazil and fired a warning to the champion in the post-race conference.

The Aussie put on an impressive display, finishing some 16.9 seconds ahead of Vettel and 27.6 second ahead of Jenson Button, who finished third in the McLaren.

Webber has endured some difficult times throughout the season but is now looking ahead to 2012 and claims F1 fans will see him closing the gap on his rivals.

"I think I can have a stronger season than this year. Clearly I started off poorly for lots of different reasons. I don't come here thinking about just [Vettel], we've got some class operators in other teams: Button, Lewis, Fernando these boys are on the case," he commented.

The driver hailed the work of Renault, praising the car's reliability, and said with the car "bomb proof" in many areas, he has a decent platform to work from in the new season.
