A Vehicle Tour of the PEUGEOT e-208

We’ve taken a closer look at PEUGEOT’S first mass-produced electric vehicle, the e-208, to see what it’s all about.

When creating the e-208, it’s clear PEUGEOT had a mission: to provide an all-electric supermini without compromising the much-loved style, practicality and driving experience associated with the original model.

Watch our video tour below, or read on to learn more about the PEUGEOT e-208.

Exterior

If you’re looking for an electric vehicle, that doesn’t scream “electric vehicle”, the PEUGEOT e-208 could be the car for you. It looks just like the petrol model, with the only noticeable changes being the coloured front grille, the dual colour front badge and the blue ‘e’ badging at the rear.

The e-208 is a stylish model, with eye-catching features such as detailed alloy wheels, LED lion claw lights, and on GT Premium models, tinted rear windows and a smart black roof.

Interior

Inside, the PEUGEOT e-208 feels comfortable and pretty premium. There’s plenty of space for drivers and passengers in the front and back.

A high-resolution 7-inch infotainment system comes as standard. On Allure Premium models you have the option of upgrading to a 10-inch system, and the 10-inch version comes as standard on GT and GT Premium models. 7-inch models have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring, DAB radio and Bluetooth as you’d expect, and the 10-inch version has a built-in sat-nav.

The multi-functional leather steering wheel has controls that enable you to answer your phone, change the music and switch up the dashboard display. The steering wheel has also been ergonomically designed to optimise comfort for drivers, especially on longer journeys.

Throughout the vehicle, there are plenty of storage options, and the unchanged boot from the 208 means you get also a useful 311-litre capacity, that extends to 1,106 litres with the rear seats folded.

Driving and Performance

The PEUGEOT e-208 is powered by a 50kWh battery and a 136hp electric motor, which work to provide around 170 - 180 miles of electric range in real-world conditions.

It’s also capable of rapid charging, which means in just 30 minutes you can give the battery a boost from 10-80% using a fast public charger. If you’re charging the e-208 at home using a 7kW wall box, you should be able to charge 0-100% in around seven hours – ideal if you plug it in overnight.

The instant, torque you’d expect with an EV is very much present in the e-208, and its nippy acceleration and compact size make it ideal for urban driving. The smooth and quiet ride you experience as a result of the electric motor make it an incredibly enjoyable drive. Plus, with PEUGEOT’s advanced Blind-Spot Assistant system, you can feel confident when overtaking, that no vehicles are hidden from view – keeping yourself and other road users safe at all times.

So, if you’re looking for a smart supermini that’s fun to drive and offers zero tailpipe emissions, the PEUGEOT e-208 is a solid choice. It may be priced slightly higher than its petrol and diesel counterparts, but with lower everyday running costs, you should be onto a winner.
