Fiat 500L features in highly-anticipated new YouTube film

Following on from the huge success of The Motherhood YouTube film, Italian car manufacturer Fiat has launched its sequel The Fatherhood - with a Fiat 500L this time taking centre stage.

Fiat’s first clip became a film sensation when it was released last year, as it told the story of a mum who had swapped her flash designer clutch bag for a ‘snot-stained sack’ after welcoming a newborn baby into the world.

To date, the film has been viewed by more than three and a half million people around the globe as it brought to light the typical mother of this generation.

Its sequel The Fatherhood this time takes viewers back to the 1980s at a time, according to Fiat, “when New Romantics were young and carefree”.

The story of the clip is based around a weary father-of-two as he attempts to get his two screaming babies to sleep.

In order to assist the process, the dad opts to drive his children around the neighbourhood. This idea is based around a nationwide survey that was conducted recently and revealed that new parents drive on average 1,300 miles each year to try to get their newborn kids to slumber.

At the same time as the father is driving around his neighbourhood, he begins to sing about his long-lost youth and asks himself how he went from Jack the Lad to Jack the Dad.

Commenting on The Fatherhood, Elena Bernardelli, marketing director, at Fiat Group Automobiles UK, said: “After the phenomenal success of The Motherhood we were inundated with requests to see Dad’s side of the story.

“As with The Motherhood, we wanted Dads everywhere to watch The Fatherhood and nod along to the story we’re telling. Just like the Fiat 500L, we hope The Fatherhood will bring a bit of fun into people’s everyday lives.”

The entire advert is filmed inside a new Fiat 500L - a vehicle that has been promoted as the perfect set of wheels for style-conscious young families.

Substantially larger than the well-loved Fiat 500, the Fiat 500L is designed to accommodate a family of five without any discomfort and for any type of road trip.

Five doors and 400 litres of boot space also presents motorists with plenty of accessibility, while a choice of four low-emissions engines ensures the vehicle ticks the box where greener motoring is concerned.
