Ford breaks records at 2013 What Car? Awards

American car manufacturer Ford has won four trophies at an individual What Car? Awards ceremony for the first time in the event's history.

The Ford Mondeo took centre stage where the American vehicle maker's accomplishments were concerned, with the model bagging both the Best Family Car and Best Estate awards.

Upon gifting the Mondeo the two prizes, What Car? acknowledged that each vehicle in the range "is rewarding to drive, with agile handling and a comfortable ride".

Improved safety standards and a great selection of engines also saw the new Ford Fiesta scooping What Car?'s Best Supermini prize.

Rounding out the quartet of award triumphs for Ford at the 2013 What Car? Awards was the Ford Focus ST taking home the Best Hot Hatch crown.

Chas Hallett, editor-in-chief at What Car?, commented: "Ford really deserves its four What Car? category awards, it's a fantastic achievement.

"It's great to see a mainstream volume car maker building award-winning cars."
