Ford Fiesta wins Womens World Car of the Year

The Ford Fiesta 1.0l EcoBoost has been named Women’s World Car of the Year.

A panel of specialist female motoring writers from across the globe judged vehicles in five categories, with the Fiesta winning the economy car award before being voted  “supreme winner”.

Judges were particularly impressed by the capabilities of the EcoBoost engine, with UK representative Victoria MacMillan Bell praising “range figures and performance never before seen”, which have been combined with stylish design.

“The Fiesta has such a high-end look and feel to it,” she added. “This very stylish pocket rocket wins in every category, with bells on.”

Voting for the supreme winner was limited to finalists and the Fiesta triumphed over the Mazda CX5, which narrowly won the SUV category over the Hyundai Sante Fe, and best luxury car the Range Rover.

Ford’s Craig Von Essen welcomed the award, noting the manufacturer strives to combine technology, services and vehicles that capture buyers’ attention.
