Ford increases market share

Ford increased its share of the UK car market last month, recording clear leadership for the month and the year to date.

The manufacturer's retail share stood at 11.3 per cent in November, up 0.7 per cent compared with November 2009.

It took almost 20,000 registrations of new cars during the month, a boost made possible by the popularity of models such as the Ford Fiesta and the Ford Focus.

The former was the best-selling car in the UK for the month, while the latter came in a close second.

Other cars that proved successful included the S-MAX, the C-MAX and the Grand C-MAX.

Jon Wellsman, sales director for Ford of Britain, noted that the company has enjoyed 45 years of market leadership.

"Each model in Ford's commercial vehicle range increased its sales volume and share in November, compared with the same month in 2009," Mr Wellsman stated.

In other news, the new Ford C-MAX was last month awarded a maximum five-star rating from the independent Euro NCAP organisation.ADNFCR-3205-ID-800278681-ADNFCR
