Ford Introduces New BlueCruise Technology to Mustang Mach-E Model

It’s the beginning of a new era for Mustang Mach-E owners, with a new system allowing drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel.

It’s official - self-driving cars are getting closer than ever before.

Ford recently introduced new BlueCruise technology to its all-electric SUV, and it’s set to transport drivers into a new era.

How it works

Ford’s BlueCruise technology allows you to enjoy more convenient driving with the help of increased driver assistance.

This innovative new technology works in tandem with the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centring systems to control both the speed and positioning of your vehicle, so you can take your hands off the wheel.

Inside, an infrared camera will monitor your gaze and the position of your head to make sure you are still focussing on the road in front of you, so unfortunately you can’t just sit back and relax!

If you are not paying attention, the system will alert you via either a visual warning sign on the instrument cluster, or an audible warning sound.

If no response is detected, the BlueCruise system will abort, resulting in a gentle pump of the brakes to alert your attention while gently slowing down your vehicle to prepare you for taking over.

For some, the prospect of self-driving technology may seem terrifying, though the system has been rigorously tested by Ford with over 100,000 miles. It has also been designed to monitor the road and others around you to make sure safety is always a priority.

Blue Zones

Ford’s BlueCruise system can be activated on designated ‘Blue Zone’ routes, which the manufacturer says make up about 95% of the country’s motorways.

This means that upon entering these zones, the system can be activated allowing you to enjoy a smoother, convenient drive.

How can I get it?

If you own a Mustang Mach-E built from 2023 onwards or intend to buy one, you’ll be eligible for a 90-day free trial, after which you’ll then be charged £17.99 per month if you want to continue using it.

As technology continues to evolve, so will your Mustang Mach-E. The BlueCruise system will be regularly updated via over-the-air updates as the technology is improved, so you can rest assured you’ll have access to its full potential.

For those who are more about the journey, less about the driving, the Ford Mustang Mach-E with BlueCruise technology is sure to be a hit!
