New Ford Tool Helps Fleet Owners Decide Whether To Make The Switch to Electric

Ford Pro E-Switch Assist allows fleet owners to assess their EV-readiness when it comes to making the switch to electric vans.

  • Ford Pro E-Switch Assist is a new tool created to help fleet owners determine whether they are ready to go electric
  • The tool provides a realistic assessment of running costs and charging forecasts for both single vehicles and an entire fleet
  • The tool is simple to use and requires users to entire in details about their current vehicles and usage to generate their assessment

As a fleet owner, the decision to electrify your fleet can often seem daunting and uncertain. Would it work realistically? What would the associated costs be? How would it be achieved?

Ford has created a new tool to answer all these questions and help you decide whether you are ready to upgrade your vans to electric models.

Read on to learn about how the tool works and could benefit your business.

The ultimate decision made for you

The Ford Pro E-Switch Assist tool allows you to input data from your current Ford vehicle and provide an EV-readiness assessment for your fleet.

The new tool is supporting the switch from petrol and diesel Transit vans to Ford E-Transit. According to the manufacturer, other Ford models are set to be supported soon. It allows you to get an assessment for all the vehicles in your fleet, or a single vehicle using the data you provide, and it’s easy to use.

Using Ford Pro E-Switch Assist

To use the tool, you’ll first need to log in or sign up for free. Depending on whether you’d like a detailed assessment or a quick estimate, the tool may work slightly differently.

Detailed assessments

For a detailed assessment of your entire fleet, you’ll need to connect all your vehicles using the tool. This data will then be used to calculate the battery energy required to power your fleet before your fleet-wide EV assessment is completed.

How it works:

  • Based on connected telematics data using one or more vehicles (fleet)
  • Detailed daily charging assessment
  • EV assessment is based on real-life usage
  • Results updated periodically with vehicle usage

Quick estimates

If you’d just like to determine the ‘EV-fit’ status for a single vehicle, this can also be done.

How it works:

  • Based on data entered manually
  • Provides a projected EV charging forecast
  • Indicative EV fit status provided
  • Results are instant

Why use Ford Pro E-Switch Assist?

Ford Pro E-Switch Assist offers several benefits to fleet owners. For one, you’ll be able to get a realistic forecast of the costs of running an electric fleet before making any decisions.

You’ll also be able to make more informed choices when it comes to the types of vehicles you choose to upgrade your fleet.

If that’s not enough, the tool is completely free to use and saves you from head-scratching Excel spreadsheets and manual calculations.
