New Ford cars 'boosting the firm's market lead'

The number of motorists investing in Ford vehicles may be helping the firm to achieve a stronger market lead in 2010.

According to the manufacturer, its best ever product line-up has attracted new car buyers and helped it to increase its lead through increased vehicle sales.

Figures have shown it has currently sold 6,488 more cars for the year to date than it had this time last year, highlighting the Ford Ka, Ford Fiesta, Ford Focus, Ford Kuga and Ford S-MAX as top performers.

Nigel Sharp, Ford of Britain managing director, said the manufacturer's new models, which utilise CO2-lowering technology, are well suited to the current market conditions.

"We are working hard with our dealers to make customers aware of the outstanding value provided by these technically advanced and stylish vehicles," he added.

Last month, the manufacturer announced a series of upgrades for its ever popular Fiesta, with new features including a standard electronic stability programme and a reduction in CO2 output that means no road tax for buyers.
