Seat's new green Leon model is entering showrooms this week.

The Seat Leon Ecomotive is the Spanish manufacturer's new frugal model fitted with various green features such as brake energy recovery and start/stop technology.

With its impressive carbon output of 99 grams per kilometre, the model could appeal to eco-conscious motorists who also place importance on economy, as it can achieve 74.3 miles per gallon on the combined cycle.

Welcoming arrival, Seat UK product marketing manager Andy Medcraft, said: "Ecomotive is a strong and growing strand of the Seat story in the UK."

Fitted with a 1.6-litre engine, the model can still achieve a top speed of 118 miles per hour (mph) despite its green modifications and is capable of accelerating from zero to 62mph in 11.5 seconds.

Earlier this year, Seat released details of its forthcoming Alhambra people carrier, which is set to be available with up to seven seats and sliding doors.
