Peugeot 2008 and Dakar sibling uncovered

The new Peugeot 2008 is primed and ready to head to this year's Beijing Motor Show, as it prepares to launch in the Chinese market.

After proving a success for European customers, it is hoped the urban crossover will make the same impression among motorists in the Far East.

The modern and stylish SUV comes with an e-HDi diesel engine and three-cylinder petrol technology. This efficient powertrain gives customers the benefit of 61.8 mpg while emitting just 98g/km of CO2.

It's also extremely versatile thanks to exceptional interior space, while a strong focus on safety is present with the inclusion of park assist, anti-skid regulation and stability control.

In addition to Peugeot's revelation of Chinese expansion, the manufacturer has also unveiled the 2008 DKR - a similar version of the model set to take on the infamous Dakar rally.

Offering a similar style to the 2008, the DKR version adds just a bit more bulk to tackle the challenges of the course.

The 2008 DKR now features a number of technical changes, including chunkier wheels, suspension tweaks and improved aerodynamics, to ensure it is ready for the tough terrain and sand.
