Peugeot 2008 to become 'best selling B segment crossover'

Peugeot is confident that its new 2008 B segment crossover has the attributes to defeat competition such as the Renault Captur and Nissan Juke.

The 2008 is scheduled to hit showrooms in the UK in mid-July, with marketing communications manager Marc Bocque saying the manufacturer is due to build "a significant number" of the vehicles.

Focusing on style and quality, Peugeot hopes the 2008 will give the impression that it is in a higher segment than B, differing itself from the Renault Captur, which has gone down the personalisation route to attract buyers.

Thanks to the 2008's versatility, the manufacturer is targeting business users and expects that 40 per cent of sales will be to fleets. What's more, it envisages that it will be popular among new buyers to Peugeot, with 65 per cent of buyers expected to be purchasing from the brand for the first time.

Overall, Peugeot is targeting annual sales of 8,000, bringing total 208/2008 sales up to 50,000 a year.

Customers will get the choice between 1.2-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engines, or 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre diesel engines, along with four trim level options.
