Vauxhall sold more cars in the UK than any other manufacturer last month, it has been revealed.

According to statistics released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) today (June 6th), Vauxhall sold 30,190 vehicles in June, marking a strong half-year for the company.

This first half of the year also signalled great success for the Vauxhall Astra, which was Britain's best-selling new car range between January 1st and June 30th, the figures show.

Meanwhile, the Vauxhall Zafira was also revealed as the UK's best-selling compact MPV, with more than 15,000 sales since January.

Vauxhall managing director Duncan Aldred commented that the statistics are "great news" for the manufacturer.

"Product is king for UK buyers and our June sales prove that we're ticking all the right boxes with customers when it comes to the quality, performance and value of our cars," Mr Aldred said.

He added that the Astra has proved popular because it offers great value for money.
