Citroen World Rally Team head for Finland

Rally Finland is approaching and the Citroen World Rally Team enter the second half of the 2014 season second in the championship.

Finland is the fastest event on the calendar and notorious for its big jumps. Driving their DS 3 WRCs, Scandinavians Mads Ostberg and Jonas Anderson and Brits Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle will all be looking for strong results.

Ostberg in particular is looking for a podium in Finland. Every year since his first appearance at the rally he has improved, achieving his best result of third last year.

He said: "Experience is the key to going quickly on all of the stages. Having competed here eight times before means I have acquired the confidence you need. It is also one of my favourite events. I think that came across last year."

Citroen has won four times at Rally Finland. Its first triumph was in 1962, when local drivers Pauli Toivonen and Jaakko Kallio secured victory in their DS19. Since then, only Sebastien Loeb and Daniel Elena have won there in 2008, when they set an all-time record, then again in 2011 and 2012.

Marek Nawarecki, deputy team principal, commented: "At speeds like that, you need a lot of experience to be among the leaders. Having appeared in Finland eight times before, Mads will be competing at one of his favourite rallies.

"Kris also knows this rally very well, having made six starts here already and having competed in one of our DS 3 WRCs last year. This experience will help our drivers to get up to speed straight away. The goal is the same as ever we will be trying to secure podium finishes."
