Ford Focus ST set for movie role

The forthcoming Ford Focus ST has been named as the new star of a big screen makeover of The Sweeney.

British acting legend Ray Winstone will be joined by Ben Drew - aka Plan B - in the movie, which will see the Focus put to the test.

Ford unveiled the ST, its most-powerful Focus to date - at the Frankfurt Motor Show and the car will now be given a cinematic platform to show off its credentials, Auto Express reported.

The move will bring the movie e-make up to date after the original TV series, which starred Dennis Waterman - featured the now-defunct Ford Granada.

As such, Winstone and Drew will be able to draw on the 247bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine as they chase down bad guys.

Indeed, the Ford Focus ST is expected to deliver a 0-60mph time of just six seconds, meaning it will catch up with anything the villains use to escape the clutches of the Flying Squad.

The Focus, along with the Fiesta and Mondeo, recently saw Ford pick up industry awards in the used car sector.
