Hyundai i10 retains Auto Express Crown

Hyundai will be able to boast at least one award-winning car this year after the i10 retained its crown as Best City Car at the 2011 Auto Express Awards.

The win was one of two for the Korean car manufacturer, as it also scooped top prize in the MPV sector for its ix20 model.

According to Graham Hope, Auto Express's acting editor, this year's win is all the more impressive given the competitive nature of the city car market.

Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai's UK's managing director, added: "It's always fantastic to receive positive recognition from the industry for our product offering.

"However, to be classed as the best in what are two highly competitive segments is tremendous and a true testament to the style, practicality, driveability and economy of these outstanding products."

The news comes shortly after the firm was named as one of the world's top green companies by international consultancy Interbrand.

Hyundai's Blue Drive eco-friendly strategy is a leader in zero-emission, hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle development, Interbrand said.
