Mazda sets March 2012 release date for CX-5

Fans of urban crossovers such as the VW Tiguan and the Ford Kuga can look forward to getting a new option from March next year, it has been announced.

Mazda has confirmed that the CX-5 will be available to order from September onwards, with the first models shipping six months later, What Car reports.

Prices will start at around £21,000 and anyone who isn't completely satisfied after their test drive can get a full refund, the manufacturer has bravely promised.

The new urban crossover is supposedly based on the design of the Minagi concept, which boasts sleek lines and chunky tyres.

Furthermore, Mazda's new ultra-efficient Skyactiv engines and gearboxes should make this new model cheaper to drive than many of its rivals, with the manufacturer claiming that the car can do 65 mpg.

Even if you plump for the top-of-the-range 2.0-litre petrol engine, the CX-5 will still be able to do 47 mpg, Mazda added.
