New Ford B-Max gets UK premiere

British drivers have been given an insight into the many features of the new Ford B-Max.

The model was given its UK premiere earlier this week and Ford designer Erika Tsubaki was quick to demonstrate the unique design features of the car.

Those looking to get behind the wheel of the innovative model will find that the B-Max's hidden pillars and sliding doors will provide what the firm has described as "unrivalled access" to the car's interior.

Set to go on sale from September this year, the B-Max is one of the most hotly-anticipated releases in recent Ford history.

"The B-MAX provides a wide open space into an interior boasting style and flexibility - it easily accommodates loads apparently too bulky or awkward for its compact dimensions and neat exterior," the Blue Oval revealed.

While official pricing data has not yet been released, media whispers claim the B-Max will come with an on-the-road starting price of £13,500.

Safety is another key feature of the design, with reviewers claiming that the body of the B-Max is much stiffer than that of its little sister the Ford Fiesta.

Entry-level customers are expected to be able to call on a 99bhp version of Ford's new 1.0 Ecoboost petrol engine.

Ford also revealed that even with the 118bhp version of the Ecoboost, the B-Max is expected to return emission figures of 114g/km of CO2 and an average fuel efficiency of 57.6mpg.

With figures like that, it's easy to see why motorists are clamouring to see the B-Max for themselves.
