Nissan announces new gold medal-winning ambassadors

Nissan has revealed that multiple gold-medal winners and Olympic legends Sir Chris Hoy and Richard Whitehead MBE will be the new ambassadors for the company's Team GB and ParalympicsGB partnership.

Sir Chris is one of UK cycling's most decorated and well-respected athletes, winning six Olympic golds in his career in addition to numerous World Championship titles.

Richard Whitehead was most known for his achievements in marathon running, but turned his attentions to sprinting for the London 2012 Paralympic Games, picking up a gold medal in the 200m race - achieving the feat in a world record time.

The pair will now head up Nissan's #UniteAndExcite campaign, giving athletics fans exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the stories of sporting champions, while offering unique news on Nissan's latest innovations and technology.

To celebrate the partnership, Sir Chris has taken part in a heart-pumping video, bringing together the benefits of both innovation and determination when it comes to performance.

Both men will also be pushing the campaign hashtag on social media ahead of the Winter Olympics in Sochi to support Team GB and ParalympicsGB athletes.

Sir Chris said: "I’m hugely excited to be a part of Nissan’s Team GB & ParalympicsGB partnership. Nissan is famed for its innovation and excitement and its #UniteAndExcite campaign will make the thrill of the Games more accessible to the British public, whilst Nissan’s innovation support will mean a huge amount for the athletes throughout their preparations for Rio 2016.”

Mr Whitehead also said he is excited to be working with Nissan all the way through to the upcoming Olympics in Brazil.

“I have competed in both Winter and Summer Paralympics and hope that by passing on my experience I can be of help to the next generation of British Paralympians," he added.

Nissan GB marketing director Guillaume Masurel said the ambassadors for the campaign are "inspirational" and the manufacturer is looking forward to the working partnership.
