Peugeot RCZ wins Best Sports Car accolade

The Peugeot RCZ Sports Coupe has won the fourth successive Best Sports Car award in Diesel Car magazine's Car of the Year Awards 2013.

It beat off impressive opposition from the likes of the Mercedes-Benz SLK to retain its crown.

"Here is a pocket supercar for far less money than its voluptuous looks and slick behaviour would lead you to expect," said Ian Robertson, Diesel Car editor.

The Peugeot RCZ Sports Coupe's unique appearance, with its double-bubble roofline and aluminium roof arches, helped the vehicle to the award.

Meanwhile, it impresses under the bonnet with 240 lb ft of torque and the capability of reaching 62 mph in just 8.7 seconds. Its top speed stands at 137 mph. Buyers get the choice of two trim levels too, either the Sport or the GT, which accounts for 80 per cent of the range.

The vehicle is available from £21,600. However, the HDi 163 Sport will set customers back £23,435 and the high-spec GT costs £25,835.
