Peugeot releases first photos of New 308

Peugeot has revealed the stunning exterior of its New 308 in a set of images that showcase the brand's efforts to re-position itself within the compact family hatchback segment.

At just 4.25 metres in length, the New Peugeot 308 makes for a very neat size, yet entirely well-balanced in its proportions.

The front of the vehicle is dominated by the 'floating' front grille, which boasts the company's strong lighting signature with slim full-LED headlamps on either side.

"The New Peugeot 308 has a pure and technological exterior design that speaks of high strength and high quality," said Gilles Vidal, design director at Peugeot.

Inside the vehicle, the 308 boasts unprecedented levels of style, while the i-cockpit concept demonstrates the brand's expert design and engineering prowess. This is what Peugeot is calling the arrangement of everything drivers need around the steering wheel, making sure that functions can be reached in an intuitive and relaxing manner so that drivers can focus on the road ahead.

A 9.7-inch touchscreen interface means that the majority of physical buttons and switches can be done away with, while also providing all infotainment controls in one easy to use place.

"On the road, driving pleasure is enhanced by the new EMP2 modular platform. With its considerable reduction in weight, it contributes to the dynamism and easy handling of the New Peugeot 308," said Laurent Declerck, New 308 project director at Peugeot.

This ensures that the vehicle is 140kg lighter than the current 308 generation, while the engineering also cuts back on emissions, with one model as low as 85g/km.

Peugeot has created every single element of the New 308 with exceptional attention to detail, making sure that all materials are of the highest quality. Satin chrome and gloss black detailing on the interior will ensure that the vehicle demonstrates a level of sophistication and maturity to the build.

The New Peugeot 308 is due to make its world premiere at the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 10th this year, with sales to start in Europe shortly after and in the UK from January 2014.
