SEAT: SUV is coming

SEAT has finally confirmed that it is to begin producing SUV vehicles, aiming to get the first ones rolled off the production lines by 2015.

James Muir, president of the car manufacturer, made the revelation in an interview with Autocar, and admitted they would most likely be previewed as a "close-to-production concept" by 2014.

It is assumed that the design of the brand new SUV will be similar to the IBX concept that was showcased at a motor show last year.

This was actually created as a blueprint to what the SUV would end up looking like, Mr Muir told the online news provider.

"We will bring an SUV as quickly as we can," the expert said. "After the concept in the next two years, it will be a short time before it comes to market."

As for when it comes down to sales, SEAT expects demand to result in annual sales of around 10,000 units.

In an interview last year, Mr Muir said that he was looking to achieve at least three per cent of the car market share.
