Ford has unveiled a sporty new addition to its vehicle line-up.

A new Ford has been added to the Fiesta range in the form of the S1600, which is based on the Fiesta Zetec S.

Complete with an enhanced number of features, the model's sporting pedigree is apparent from first glimpse at its body styling kit, which includes a large rear spoiler, extended side skirts and a unique front bumper.

Available in frozen white or performance blue, the vehicle also has contrasting motorsport stripes and is fitted with a choice of a 1.6-litre, 120ps Duratec Ti-VCT petrol engine, or an improved 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi engine with 95ps.

Spec levels have been extended to include features like alloy pedals, stitched leather sports seats and motorsport branded floor mats.

Gill Palmer, Ford of Britain's Fiesta product manager, said: "Since its introduction, Fiesta and sporting pedigree have never been far apart and the latest incarnation of that is S1600, bringing extra motorsport feel to the award-winning Fiesta style and driving quality."

The model is priced from £16,665 and joins a new range of Fiestas currently being offered by Ford, which has now added an electronic stability control programme as standard.
