Motorists might want to follow a set of guidelines aimed at keeping their vehicles in tip top condition this summer.
Used car drivers may be feeling that now is the time to give their autos a spring clean, ready for the fast approaching summer months.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has issued a number of advisory points for motorists to follow to prepare their vehicles for the warmer weather.
Chief examiner at the IAM Peter Rodger said: "After a long winter of wear and tear through snow, salt and potholes - and now volcanic dust - your car will be in need of a little TLC."
It suggests hay fever sufferers could replace their pollen filter every year to keep conditions inside the vehicles more pleasant, while servicing the air conditioning system will help the vehicle avoid nasty smells.
Old wiper blades might need replacing to avoid scratching the windscreen and it is vital to refill the washer reservoir to get rid of kamikaze insects that abound in the summer months.
Motorists were also recently urged to take steps to protect their vehicles from deposits caused by the volcanic ash cloud.
