What to Expect from the New MG5 EV

MG has revealed a number of exciting updates to its award-winning electric estate model, the MG5 EV.

The first unveiling happened at the Goodwood Festival of Speed’s Electric Avenue Event, which took place in June this year.

The new model boasts several styling upgrades – inside and out, as well as technology enhancements that will no doubt boost its popularity as one of the best EVs available in the UK.

Upgrades

The most notable tweaks are to the exterior, with the new model evoking a sportier image. You can expect to see updated front and rear bumpers, redesigned LED head and rear lights and new wheel designs.

The interior has also undergone a facelift. Stepping inside, you will find a new 7-inch driver display and a 10.25-inch widescreen infotainment system with upgraded software - capable of supporting iSMART car functionality through the MG smartphone app.

The new MG5 EV will come with Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) capability, which is a new technology, first seen on the MG ZS EV. It allows users to power other devices using surplus energy stored in the vehicle’s battery, including e-bikes, portable heaters and camping equipment, for example.

Dimensions remain as before, with the new model offering the same spacious boot. With a volume of 1,367 litres, it is unrivalled for its price in the electric sector.

Roof rails also come as standard and are capable of carrying loads up to 75kg.

Homologation figures have not yet been finalised, meaning range and charging figures will be released in due course.
