Following its mammoth effort to create a giant Union jack out of 128 new Astras, Vauxhall has released a behind-the-scenes film which reveals how workers at the Ellesmere Port manufacturing plant achieved the impressive feat.

Captured by a drone hovering above the ground, the short film shows the choreography that went into parking the vehicles in formation.

The patriotic display was organised to celebrate 36 years of Astra production at the Cheshire-based plant, which has produced over 5 million Vauxhall models. The plant is expanding thanks to a contract to build the new Astra, and will see 2,000 jobs created over the next decade. By 2016, workers at the factory will be producing 680 Astras per day.

Business Minister Anna Soubry commented: "This is a proud day for Vauxhall and its workforce at Ellesmere Port. Manufacturing the seventh generation Astra onsite secures jobs into the next decade, boosts productivity and further demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to the UK."
