Car lovers who are worried about the effect their vehicle has on the environment may be able to leave their worries at the curbside when they get behind the wheel of a Citroen, as the brand is offering ten models that emit less than 100g/km of CO2.

The automaker has announced that versions of the C-Zero, C3, DS3 and C4 are included in its green range, with prices starting at just £13,390 for the C3 HDi 70 manual VT.

Citroen's all-electric C-Zero is eligible for a £5,000 subsidy from the government, while the C4 hatchback could be just right for families who want to keep on top of their carbon footprint.

Linda Jackson, UK managing director at the manufacturer, said: "New car buyers [now] have an even greater choice of environmentally considerate models to suit a variety of driving preferences."

What's more, the motors are not only good for the planet, they could also be a great way to cut the cost of driving.

Car owners are being hit by rising fuel prices and the efficiency of these vehicles could lower the amount spent on petrol, while Londoners with a sub-100g/km Citroen are eligible for congestion charge exemptions.

Citroen is not the only brand keeping up with the demand for green motors, as the Nissan Leaf all-electric hatchback earned the carmaker the greenest manufacturer of the year award from Green-Car-Guide recently.
