The Mac 4x4 UK Challenge has once again turned to American car manufacturer Ford to assist in the organisation of its three-day off-road endurance treasure hunt.

As a result of the move, Ford has now extended its support for the UK’s longest-running charity off-roading event to 12 consecutive years.

In order to make this year’s Mac 4x4 UK Challenge as thrilling as ever, the American car maker provided the contest with three of its all-new Ford Ranger vehicles.

These motors were split between a pair of double-cab models and a lone single-cab unit, with 69 teams taking part in the endurance treasure hunt able to discover the astonishing driving capabilities of these state-of-the-art 4x4s.

In fact, participants were able to use the brand-new Ford Ranger vehicles in order to raise more than £80,000 during this year’s three day event. This means that, in total, the Mac 4x4 UK Challenge has been able to raise an estimated £950,000 since its creation 12 years ago.

For the fifth year running though, it was the team of Simon Vogel and Mike Walker who were once again able to walk away with the event’s winner’s cup, which was presented by Jaye Griffiths, a keen petrolhead and star of such popular TV series as Silent Witness, Coronation Street and Sherlock.

It was not just the teams involved in this year’s Mac 4x4 UK Challenge who had the opportunity to witness the brilliant accessibility of the all-new Ford Ranger, however.

This is because the vehicles were used by course officials planning the endurance treasure hunt, in order to check the suitability of off-road routes and then marshall the event.

Selwyn Kendrick, the event’s founder and organiser, noted: “The Ford Rangers are vital to the success of the event as they enable us to get around the course, rescue stuck or broken down competitors and carry all our equipment with ease.

“We couldn’t do it without them, and as you’d expect, the Ford Rangers never miss a beat.”
