Renault drops hints over Megane RS details

Hot hatch fans were alerted today by a new teaser from Renault, which dropped several hints about the upcoming release of the Megane RS.

The new souped-up model will be released next week (June 17th), the carmaker said, although it will not be a direct successor to the previous R26R, Autocar reports.

Instead, the hot hatch will have a full interior, unlike the old version's stripped-out racing design, and it will inherit the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine from the Renaultsport Megane 250.

To drum up hype in advance of the launch, Renault has also released a video of the car driving round the Nurburgring, the infamous German race track.

Reports suggest that the new Megane RS will have more power and torque than the recent Renaultsport Megane 250, which has "the kind of handling precision to make mincemeat out of the average British B-road", according to Autocar.
